Uploaded by twitter.com When Selena Gomez first set eyes on her new puppy, Baylor, it was definitely love at first sight — and bark! “We went to a shelter just for fun … and we saw this adorable, adorable puppy,” Gomez said in a new interview with Canadian entertainment show eTalk. “I literally felt like he said my name. So, I had to have him.” The singer, who adopted the pup at a Winnipeg shelter while accompanied by beau Justin Bieber last month, cradled the new man in her life as she chatted with TV correspondent Tanya Kim backstage before a show in Hamilton, Ontario. Gomez even let the clumsy pooch (with “big paws”) run around the venue. The star’s entourage confirmed that life on the road has gotten a lot cuter since the husky mix arrived. “They are obsessed with Baylor,” she said of her tour buddies, while scratching the dog’s neck. “Luckily, they all like dogs — huh, Baylor?”

This was taken when we first got Dude and Maggie simpy wanted to chase him around the house but Dude wasn’t exaclty as quick to respond as he is today which is why I had to get Maggie to lie back down. Today, they’re still playful best friends free to roam & play together with the additions of Troy, Mastiff and Macy, the Chihuahua. If you’ve ever met a Mastiff you’d know how gentle they are, Maggie especially, and would never hurt a fly – or in this case, a Chihuahua. They’re simply best buds for life.

The SPCA says it is shocked at the mistreatment of a young puppy at the hands of a group of Auckland children. They were seen using it as a football and a basketball, and the animal cruelty group is worried about the boys’ behaviour and how it could escalate. The labrador cross is only two months old, but it has already suffered severe trauma and serious bruising at the hands of a group of young boys. “He was shaking, continuously shaking, whimpering… he was very scared, very scared and very tired,” says animal welfare inspector Lori Davis. The SPCA was called to the South Auckland Papakura park yesterday night in response to what they describe as a “distressing scene”. It was there that a neighbour reported seeing four children aged 12 to 13 kicking the puppy like a football, and throwing it through the basketball hoop. “Throwing him on the ground, kicking him around — she’d seen it happen the night before, Saturday night as well,” Ms Davis says. Cruelty to household pets has been in the headlines recently, with British woman Mary Bale condemned worldwide for a spontaneous act of throwing a cat in a wheelie bin.
