Betty’s Chex Muddy Buddies (“Puppy Chow”) Recipe

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Chex Muddy Buddies, commonly known as Puppy Chow. This is one of many recipes by General Mills that is a variation of the original Chex Party Mix. This version has chocolate and peanut butter added to chex cereal, and is coated with confectioners sugar. This luscious snack doesnt even need to be baked! NOTE: THIS IS NOT DOG FOOD; IN FACT, IT CONTAINS CHOCOLATE, WHICH IS DANGEROUS TO DOGS! DO NOT FEED THIS TO YOUR DOG!!! Ingredients: 9 cups Corn Chex, Rice Chex, Wheat Chex, or Chocolate Chex cereal (or combination) 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips ½ cup peanut butter ¼ cup butter or margarine 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 ½ cups powdered sugar 1. Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside. 2.In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer, or until mixture can be stirred smooth. (I did the melting of chocolate, peanut butter, and butter in a large skillet on top of the stove.) Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food storage plastic bag. (I used a 1 gallon bag—twice.) 3.Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container.

Puppies chasing chickens: Dog Training

www.pamsdogacademy.com The other day we worked with Blue on learning how to be calm around the family chickens. He was running back and forth chasing chickens and looking for chickens when I arrived. Now he is calmly hanging out with them. This is the same thing that I do with my dogs or clients dogs that like to chase cats. Prevention is key! When the dog is reinforced for the proper behavior the dog is more likely to repeat that behavior. Because chasing chickens, cats or other things is highly reinforcing YOU MUST have a plan, a GREAT REWARD, a leash to prevent failure, and set the dog up to succeed. We were able to start really close to the chickens, but if the puppy was not able to be calm, then I would have moved the puppy further away until he was below his threshold. This funny adorable little dog teases a deer in our yard. The deer plays and chases the dog and the dog does the same back to the deer. The deer was hungry and eating and if he could talk I bet he would have lots to say about the dog.
