Cute Pug Puppies Play Tug-O-War!

Year-old pugs Muggsy and Milo apparently did something to tick each other off, and have decided to have a go at a classic tug-o-war with their favorite chew toy. This video was filmed on February 1, 1996 – Muggsy is sadly no longer with us, he died in August of 2009, at the age of 14. Betty’s Chex Muddy Buddies (“Puppy Chow”) Recipe

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Chex Muddy Buddies, commonly known as Puppy Chow. This is one of many recipes by General Mills that is a variation of the original Chex Party Mix. This version has chocolate and peanut butter added to chex cereal, and is coated with confectioners sugar. This luscious snack doesnt even need to be baked! NOTE: THIS IS NOT DOG FOOD; IN FACT, IT CONTAINS CHOCOLATE, WHICH IS DANGEROUS TO DOGS! DO NOT FEED THIS TO YOUR DOG!!! Ingredients: 9 cups Corn Chex, Rice Chex, Wheat Chex, or Chocolate Chex cereal (or combination) 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips ½ cup peanut butter ¼ cup butter or margarine 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 ½ cups powdered sugar 1. Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside. 2.In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer, or until mixture can be stirred smooth. (I did the melting of chocolate, peanut butter, and butter in a large skillet on top of the stove.) Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food storage plastic bag. (I used a 1 gallon bag—twice.) 3.Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container.

Betty’s Doggone Good Hush Puppies Recipe

In this video, Betty makes Doggone Good Hush Puppies to go with her Southern Catfish dinner. They are deep-fried and then drained on paper toweling, with very little grease added to the catfish accompaniment! Ingredients: 2 cups self-rising cornmeal mix (This is a ready-made seasoned mixture of cornmeal and flour.) 3/4 cup milk 1 tablespoon sugar 1/2 small onion, finely chopped 1 egg, well beaten about 2 inches cooking oil in a deep fry cooker or pot on the stove (I used peanut oil in a deep fry cooker.) In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine 2 cups self-rising cornmeal mix, 3/4 cup milk, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1/2 small onion, finely chopped, and 1 well-beaten egg. Stir until ingredients are just mixed. Drop into hot oil, 1 teaspoon at a time, and cook until golden brown. Serve while hot with fish or other seafood–It’s the perfect accompaniment!

Family Dog’s and Puppy Introductions – Episode 5

www.pamsdogacademy.com This is a 7 part series on how I introduced our Labor Day House Guest Blue (a 11 week old Border Collie) to my current family dog’s (Isabelle, Bandit & Twix). The introductions took a few hours, but it was worth it as we had an amazing weekend together. There are many ways to train dogs to get along, but I happen to think that my way is the best. I reward calm behavior, introduce slowly, positively interrupt unwanted behaviors, and reward all behaviors that I like and want the dogs to repeat. It really is simple and does not take much time at all. It is sort of like teaching. If you start the year off right and train the students to do the procedures and teach them how things are done, then the entire school year runs smooth. Same with the dogs, if I teach them how I want them to behave by reinforcing good behaviors that I like, the inter-relationship between all the dogs is a positive one and everything runs smooth. Being a full time teacher, I like to relate a lot of what I do with dogs to humans and visa versa.
