Family Dog’s and Puppy Introductions – Episode 5

www.pamsdogacademy.com This is a 7 part series on how I introduced our Labor Day House Guest Blue (a 11 week old Border Collie) to my current family dog’s (Isabelle, Bandit & Twix). The introductions took a few hours, but it was worth it as we had an amazing weekend together. There are many ways to train dogs to get along, but I happen to think that my way is the best. I reward calm behavior, introduce slowly, positively interrupt unwanted behaviors, and reward all behaviors that I like and want the dogs to repeat. It really is simple and does not take much time at all. It is sort of like teaching. If you start the year off right and train the students to do the procedures and teach them how things are done, then the entire school year runs smooth. Same with the dogs, if I teach them how I want them to behave by reinforcing good behaviors that I like, the inter-relationship between all the dogs is a positive one and everything runs smooth. Being a full time teacher, I like to relate a lot of what I do with dogs to humans and visa versa. I am not saying that dogs are like humans, but when training and getting behaviors to be repeated, dogs and humans are very similar. Have a great week! Pam, Isabelle, Bandit, Twix & Blue

Day 39 – Mocha’s Chocolate Labrador Retriever Puppies get a New Room

I would like to one day design a house to accommodate a puppy addiction. Who knows. Mocha feels left out, today. Mocha is acting folks. I know she looks sad, but it’s OK. Mocha is eating a lot less and beginning to dry up. What a mess this morning! I would like to get a grip on the paper training. It is much more difficult with 6 of them. I think last nights mess was more my fault. We’ll see! I like how they look for me (or rather my shoes!) Camo always seems to wait by the door. Mr Camo is always the last one in!

Day 35 – Mocha’s Chocolate Labrador Retriever Puppies are 5 Weeks!

Watch them climb inside! They really love the Christmas tree and all of the decorations they can get a hold of. I comment on the fact that they soon will be able to climb out. Last night they did! A lot of messes to clean up this morning. All scattered around the house! I put them out while I cleaned – they did not like the freezing temperature out there! Puppies and Kittens

This is my puppies and kittens video. I hope you enjoy this video. It’s pretty funny. It’s about the humane society and how they rescue animals. Mainly cats and dogs. That’s why I called this video puppies and kittens. I figured that was a pretty cute name. A lot more cute than cats and dogs or something. It’s about a newspaper article that was ran in the Perry County Tribune about the humane society rescuing animals. Perry county is a little county in Ohio. Tennessee Puppy Mill Shut Down

The HSUS assisted the Marshall County, Tennessee Sheriff’s office in rescuing nearly 100 dogs from the squalor and cruelty of a local puppy mill. Now the dogs will get the care they need before finding their forever home.

Day 18 – Mocha’s Chocolate Labrador Puppies can Hear!

Sorry this is late. I am having upload issues. The puppies are now responding to sounds. They are still waddling around, but should soon start to walk. I have started cleaning the box 3 times per day. I line the “potty” side of the box with newspaper, and I put the pups there while I clean the whelping side. A couple of them wet the paper. They are really challenging Mocha’s ability to keep them clean. The amount of elimination from the pups has increase quite a bit and Mocha has had an …
