Porcupine who thinks he is a puppy!

This 5 year old male was a pet in a home, and now lives at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. This little guy had been given an apple to eat, and seems to act more like a puppy than a porcupine!

He’s so cute! I had no idea porcupines could be so affectionate and playful.

@AnimeSukichan2 No, but note that they’re wearing thick clothing.

Muito bonitinho ele. São bichos que precisam também de carinho, como qualquer outro. Coitadinho, não deve receber um cafuné desses toda a hora.

    are his quills all gone?

@Hexonox I wasn’t telling or “commanding” it what to say; I was emulating what it may be thinking…he obviously wants to play, right? Just enjoy the video, ok?

Totally remarkable. I would NEVER have thought a porcupine could be an actual pet. Pretty darn neat.

@connjamm19 yeah they are in the rodent family

I looooove him. He’s so lucky that his life turned out so well. So many exotics that started out as pets don’t end up so well.

Warms the cockles of my heart.

Thanks for posting this cute video! It’s just adorable…I was wondering if petting a porcupine’s quills feels good to him? (i.e. like petting a cat or dog) He’s so affectionate, too. Very sweet.

That’s fantastic! One animal you don’t hear much about, certainly not one like this guy. Hope he enjoys his new home.

  23. silvike on July 22nd, 2010 1:38 am

@desfees No no, I understood, I was just answering someone who corrected my choice of word (fur) instead of quills.. was just trying to clear the language problems up. He sits on his behind a lot, thus the lack of quill in that area, check! ;-)
