Ya I’m really scared of the fact that they tend to run off. It’d be a very bad day if my pet gets hurt cuz he/she ran off the house.
I don’t do much exercise on a daily basis (unfortunately) because I am on my clinical rotations and don’t have much time. But when I get a chance we go for walks or swimming. Nova has an outdoor kennel with a little room to run, so this definitely helps. We also play in the house which wears her out some. She will try to run off sometimes because that’s what malamutes and huskies like to do. But for the most part she is really good (and we trained her for that). VERY smart. Good luck!

I am getting my own place soon and I want to get an Alaskan Malamute and adopt a cat or two from rescue homes (cuz i love cats too ) =)
I have a question for you, how much exercise do you do with your dog on a daily basis? I heard they need very long runs.

There is no need to be nasty- you don’t even know the whole story! My malamute is not a purebred, all 5 of my cats are rescues/adopted strays, and the dane was a gift to my fiance from his family. I am a veterinary student and I spay and neuter animals to prevent overpopulation. Don’t just assume that you know everything and that you are right. If you’re going to get mad at someone, get mad at the people who do NOT spay and neuter their animals- THAT’S irresponsible and selfish.

My Malamute Oscar does the same with my kitty’s, one of them will stick around, the other tries to beat him up, he just wants to play, poor thing, he does realize he out weighs them by 70 lbs LOL - thanks for sharing!
